Our honorary fellows
Met Office honorary fellows are appointed on the basis of their scientific and technical achievements which have contributed significantly to delivering Met Office objectives, and are recognised nationally and internationally.
Dr John Siddorn is our first Science Fellow from National Oceanography Centre, where John is Associate Director for Digital Ocean. His role focuses on unlocking the value in observations, making marine data easier to access and interrogate. Whilst at the Met Office, John was Head of the Ocean Forecasting Research and Development team between 2014 and 2020. His fellowship recognises his national and international work in operational oceanography.
