Career background
As an Astrophysics student at Manchester, Christophe's experience here included work using radio-telescopes at Jodrell Bank, Cheshire, and work at the heavy ions accelerator (Grand Accelerateur National d'Ions Lourds) at Caen, Normandy. He then worked for five years in industry at Dundee where he applied his training in Fluid Dynamics to the design of novel cardiovascular prostheses. Several patents were obtained and he started developments on graft and stent design using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). He then studied the Haemodynamics in Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms (AAA) at the National Health Service Tayside Department of Radiology and the University of Dundee, using both 1D and 3D CFD and an in-depth audit of hospital records. His multidisciplinary approach, combining expertise from the Faculty of Medicine and the department of Civil Engineering, enabled the development of statistical methods to analyse the AAA Study data. He also lectured Mathematics at Perth College.
