Dr Elliott Warren

Areas of expertise

  • Numerical modelling
  • Forecast evaluation
  • Aerosol microphysics

Current activities

Elliott is a weather scientist currently investigating how forecast accuracy changes based on the way in which observations are integrated into the NWP forecast.

Career background

Elliott recently joined the Met Office in 2019 after working on his PhD in atmospheric science at the University of Reading, alongside the Met Office. His thesis was on evaluating NWP forecasts of particulate matter using light detection and ranging instruments (lidar), with a strong focus on evaluating forecasts for London. Prior to this, Elliott completed his MSc at the University of Birmingham, and subsequently worked as a research technician, looking after the Birmingham Urban Climate Laboratory observation network of air temperature sensors and automatic weather stations.
