Current activities
Fiona joined the Industry Consultancy team after spending seven years working to develop post-processing systems at the Met Office. She is currently working on developing prototype sub-seasonal forecasting products for the water industry to enable the wastewater sector to be able to better predict increased workload due to adverse weather. She also provides consultancy advice to customers using our sub-seasonal forecasts in their own systems.
Career background
Fiona joined the Industry Consultancy team in August 2022. She previously worked in Weather Science at the Met Office developing and implementing post-processing methods for both the UK and global weather models. She worked on operational systems designed to improve the quality of the raw model forecasts using physical, spatial, and statistical techniques. She also developed expertise in the verification and quality assurance of weather forecasts.
Fiona joined the Met Office in 2015 after graduating with a MPhys in Physics from the University of Bath in the same year.
