The email alert service is designed to keep you up-to-date. As long as you are connected to the internet, you'll be able to access the information by clicking the hyperlink in the alert email.

- You will be asked to enter your email address
- Choose your subscription options. You can choose from:
- News releases
- Weather warnings
- Climate newsletter
- Government and industry newsletter
- Periodically check your subscription profile to view new items on the subscription list
Weather warnings
You are able to choose to receive weather warnings for the following regions of the UK:
- Orkney & Shetland
- Highlands & Eilean Siar
- Grampian
- Strathclyde
- Central, Tayside & Fife
- SW Scotland, Lothian Borders
- Northern Ireland
- Wales
- North West England
- North East England
- Yorkshire & Humber
- West Midlands
- East Midlands
- East of England
- South West England
- London & South East England
Multiple warnings for the same region
Warnings are issued and updated on a regular basis and cover a range of dates and times. During an active spell of severe weather, it is possible that you will receive a number of alerts on a daily basis which reflects the dynamic weather situation as it evolves.
Which Unitary Authority area(s) a warning applies to
At the bottom of the email, there will be a list of Regions and Local Authorities affected by the warning. It is not currently possible to select warnings for just one Unitary Authority. It is only possible to receive all warnings issued within the region(s) that you have subscribed to.
You can also follow the hyperlink in the email body text, which will take you to our weather warnings page. This will show the full details of the warning and the map showing the areas for which the warning applies.
Expired warnings
Some warnings are only valid for a short period of time. If you view your email alert several hours after it was issued, e.g. view an e-mail issued at 2 a.m. at 8 a.m. the following morning, you may find that the warning does not appear on the website. This is because the period of validity of the warning has passed and it has been removed from the website as it has expired.
