Current activities

Andre joined the Aviation Applications team in January 2019. Examples of current work include the semi-automation of Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts (TAFs), research into High Altitude Ice Crystals (HAIC), an en-route aviation hazard, and investigations into forecasting for Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) operations. He is also studying part-time at the University of Exeter for a Data Science MSc.  

Career background

Andre joined the Met Office in October 2011 and worked in various teams as an Operational Meteorologist. He joined the Aviation Applications team as a Scientist in January 2019 and has worked on several aviation-related projects since then. Machine learning has become a particular area of interest to him in recent years, and he anticipates that this will be an increasing focus of his future work with the Aviation Applications team.
