The Climate data for reporting and decision making online training course, is climate data made easy. It will help you gain the skills you need to identify, access, interpret and communicate climate data and data-driven insights with confidence, credibility and impact.
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for consultants, analysts, or those in similar roles, who wish to be able to confidently use climate data, particularly UKCP18, to carry out climate change risk assessments either in-house or on behalf of other customers.
There are no formal prerequisites for this course, but basic understanding of climate science, numerate or science degree (or equivalent experience) and experience or knowledge of basic statistics will be advantageous. No coding skills are required.

How to identify key climate hazards and the associated business impacts, risks and opportunities.

What climate data is available and appropriate methodologies to analyse data for the purpose of climate reporting, with a focus on UKCP18.

How you will learn:
The course will include a mixture of three interactive online workshops and free independent e-learning to facilitate knowledge sharing, networking and the opportunity to ask questions and gain feedback from Met Office experts.
Each 3-hour online workshop will consist of content presentations, discussions, and break out room task sessions led and mentored by Met Office Consultants.
In between the workshops, you will work through e-learning modules and the course instructors will be available to answer any questions you may have following your independent study time.

The workshops will be run by Met Office Scientific Consultants and Scientists all of whom have a breadth of knowledge and years of experience in using climate change data. Industry expertise in this course is based on what we’ve learnt from delivering numerous climate risk assessments and helping various businesses find ways to adapt and build resilience. With broad experience of working with multiple industries and with access to the Met Office’s climate science, our instructors are experts in applying climate data to enable smart, data-driven reporting and decision making.
E-learning
The free e-learning modules have been developed by Met Office Hadley Centre for Climate Science and Services, home to some of the world’s foremost climate science. During the course, you will be able to ask our experts questions relating to e-learning modules to check and improve your understanding.
