Cullercoats

Low Fitzroy 999 on Friday evening, expected English Channel 996 by early on Sunday, then northern North Sea by early Monday, before moving away north over the Norwegian Sea. Meanwhile, low Norwegian Sea 1007 on Friday evening will move west or southwest, becoming complex and stretching from Iceland to the UK on Saturday and Sunday, before losing its identity on Monday. New developing low will move rapidly eastwards, expected Shannon 997 by midday on Monday. Strong winds are expected to develop in Fisher late on Saturday before extending into all other areas at times on Sunday but details are uncertain at this stage. Winds will ease down during Monday as the low in the North Sea moves away to the north. Extensive fog is not expected

Niton

Low Fitzroy 999 on Friday evening, expected English Channel 996 by early on Sunday, then northern North Sea by early Monday, before moving away north over the Norwegian Sea. Meanwhile, low Norwegian Sea 1007 on Friday evening will move west or southwest, becoming complex and stretching from Iceland to the UK on Saturday and Sunday, before losing its identity on Monday. New developing low will move rapidly eastwards, expected Shannon 997 by midday on Monday. Strong winds in Fitzroy and Sole on Friday are expected to extend into all other areas on Saturday, except Thames, Dover and Wight, with gales possible for a time in Plymouth and Biscay. Strong winds then extend into Thames, Dover and Wight early Sunday before easing in all areas. Strong winds developing again in Fitzroy, Sole, Lundy, Fastnet and Irish Sea later on Monday with gales possible in Shannon. Extensive fog is not expected

New developing low will move rapidly eastwards, expected Shannon 997 by midday on Monday. Strong winds are expected on Saturday in Lundy, Fastnet, Irish Sea, Shannon and Southeast Iceland. Strong winds easing from most areas on Sunday but affecting Bailey and Southeast Iceland for a time. Strong winds are then expected to develop in all areas during Monday with gales possible later in Shannon and Rockall. Extensive fog is not expected

The extended outlook information

The extended outlooks are issued once a day, at 2300 GMT and cover the next 3 to 5 days.

For the extended outlooks the waters surrounding the British Isles are divided into three areas: Cullercoats, Portpatrick and Niton. These three areas reflect the coverage areas of the UK's Navtex transmitters, which overlap in some areas.

The extended outlook forecast contains details of the likelihood of gales or storms, a general synopsis and a general forecast for the area of coverage of each Navtex transmitter.
