Dr Joe Eyles
Joe is a Senior Scientist at the Met Office, working on improving forecasts for the surface transport industry.

Current activities
Joe works within the Post-Processing Applications group, focusing on the Met Office Surface Transport services. He is working with the Met Office Road Surface Temperature (MORST) model and the Joint UK Land Environment Simulator (JULES) to help develop the next generation of forecasting for roads, railways and runways.
Career background
Joe was awarded an MMath in Mathematics in 2013 and completed his Ph.D. in the Mathematical modelling of tumour growth in 2019, both at the University of Sussex in the UK. During his MMath he worked with the University of Portsmouth, UK, in the field of human-computer interaction. Between finishing his MMath and starting his Ph.D. Joe worked as a mobile app developer.
After completing his Ph.D. Joe worked as an R&D Engineer at BBC R&D, in the fields of 5G and Object-based media.
Joe joined the Met Office in 2020.
