Mainly cloudy with scattered showers this evening, these becoming more widespread overnight and merging into bands of heavy and at times thundery rain. The chance of torrential downpours in places with localised flooding by the morning. Another humid night. Minimum temperature 14 °C.

Sunday:

A wet day for most with some particularly heavy rain during the morning. Localised flooding is possible, especially in the south after recent wet weather. Turning windy on western coasts. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Bright and breezy on Monday with sunny spells. Unsettled on Tuesday and Wednesday with sunshine and showers, these heaviest and most frequent in the north. Turning much windier and cooler.

Initially cool with northerly winds providing showers along exposed northern, western and eastern coasts, but also a few inland at times too, although central and southern areas may stay fairly dry and sunny. Showers wintry on the mountain tops in Scotland. Towards the end of the week and into the weekend it will likely turn more widely drier for a time, especially in central and southern areas, with the greater chance of rain and blustery conditions in the north and northwest. A gradual recovery in temperature is also expected as winds become more westerly. By the following week, while confidence is low a trend towards more settled conditions is most likely, accompanied by warmer temperatures. That said, some rain or showers are still possible, especially in the south and/or northwest.

The focus for wetter weather overall is more likely to return to north and especially northwestern areas, whilst southern and eastern areas have a greater chance of being drier relative to earlier in the month. Temperatures are likely to be around average overall, though with greater potential for brief spells of warm weather in the south.
